Major Taylor International Cycling Alliance Selects Seminole County and Sanford for 2027 International Convention

More than 700 cyclists and family members from around the world
expected to visit Central Florida

 

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (June 29, 2026) — Seminole County and the City of Sanford have been selected to host the 2027 Major Taylor International Cycling Alliance (MTICA) Convention, bringing more than 700 cyclists, supporters, and family members from across the United States and around the world to Central Florida June 2–6, 2027.

The five-day convention celebrates the life and legacy of Marshall Walter “Major” Taylor (1878–1932), the pioneering cyclist who overcame significant racial barriers to become one of the world’s first Black sports champions. The annual event promotes youth engagement, healthy lifestyles, and the unifying power of cycling through keynote speakers, educational workshops, group rides, networking opportunities, and community events.

The Major Taylor International Cycling Alliance includes more than 90 cycling clubs across the United States and internationally, including chapters in Canada, Kenya, Taiwan, and Europe.
